Life and Death Diptych

So my friend asked what he should draw for his final art project that was a diptych ("two works of art that go/work together"), and I told him representations of light and dark, or life and death. I said: a guy in a black cloak on a white background, and a woman in white on a black background. With a spot of vibrant red somewhere. I got carried away, and decided to take the idea into my own representation.
